PT discovered this Prata joint at Serangoon Gardens and brought us all there for breakfast one Sunday.
Now what do I consider to be good prata? Well, firstly, the prata must be served piping hot. Secondly, it must be crispy on the outside and fluffy inside - got to have that little crunch with every bite. The prata served here meets both criteria. Even the prata with egg was light and airy. Unfortunately, I was almost done with my pratas before I realised that I forgot to take the pictures.
Luckily, I still had the tissue prata. It was crispy and light, right down to the edges. And the generous sprinkling of sugar on the inside made this a hot favourite with JT and FT.
A cup of Teh Tarik was a wonderful, aromatic complement to the meal.

Surprise Lunch
Guess what? We had a surprise pot luck at work today. At 12.00pm, a bevy of yummy dishes miraculously appeared on the table. FANTASTIC! All I can say is that my colleagues are fabulous cooks.
The homemade Pineapple Rice was sweet and fragrant and its yellow saffron shade was so attractive.
Now, this Vegetable Curry carried a real kick. Who would have thought that a meatless curry could taste so good? Filled the potatoes, fresh lady's fingers and an assortment of vegetables, it was tasty and filling. Best of all, the gravy was thick and not at all oily. I spooned ladles of it over the Pineapple Rice.
The Fried Been Hoon was refreshingly light and the sliced vegetables gave it a nice textured crunch.
What's a party without Satay and Otak? These 2 favourites were bought from Jalan Kayu. The otak was spicy and had big chunks of seafood.
The famous Polar Swiss Rolls were bought for dessert, but I was too stuffed to eat them. Didn't matter though, they were perfect for tea.
What a wonderful meal and what great colleagues!

Artery Choking Yummy Food at Simon Road
Right at the junction of Simon Road and Upper Serangoon Road there's a gem of a coffee shop called Nam Seng Coffee Shop. Eager patrons congregate almost every day to sample 3 heart stopping, artery clogging dishes: Smoked Chicken Wings, Oyster Omelette and Satay.
The guy that sells the satay also sells the chicken wings. Unike other grilled chicken wings, the wings here give out a heady flavour of smoked spices with each bite. This is because they are grilled above the satay in an open chacoal pit. The result is a rich infusion of flavours that is a delight to the nose and tastebuds
The satays come in larger than normal sizes and are barbecued carefully so that they achieve the right balance of charring on the outside and moistness in the inside.
As for the oyster omelette, it's a legend onto itself. Fried by an elderly gentleman who works with clockwork precision, the end result is a fluffy, eggy, crispy concoction with just the perfect touch of 'gooeyness'. The oysters are fresh and a generous handful is tossed into the flour mixture. A sprinkling of parsley adds the final punch to the dish. Beware though, this Oyster Omelette is not for the faint hearted. This dish is swimming, I repeat, SWIMMING in oil!
